Growing up we only experienced snow once every couple of years. But when we did my mom always put out a big ceramic bowl to collect what she would call “clean snow.” And my brother and I knew what that meant: Snow Cream!
Years later and I still love snow cream. Part of it is because you just never know when you are going to get it. You can’t plan to make it. You can’t save it and make it later. It is an instant, spontaneous treat. And only one thing can make it better. Vodka and Kahlua.
So as an adult it only seems fit to take my mom’s original recipe, add vodka and Kahlua and make a lovely “Snow Cream Delight.” Make a big batch, dish it into large martini glasses and use a spoon, or stir in more liquid and enjoy it as a drink. There are no true measurements, just mix it to your taste.
Snow Cream Delight
Liquid Base:
2 oz vodka (Summum French Vodka)
1 oz Kahlua
.5 oz pure vanilla extract
lots of sugar (to taste)
Add fresh clean SNOW to the mix above then stir in half and half or cream until the mixture is as thick or creamy as you desire.
By the way – This cocktail is approved by The Piper who believes you can’t ever go wrong with snow.
