As I sit here with my headphones blaring my favorite Slacker Celtic station, my thoughts turn to…well, what else, a place to get my Celt on for St. Patrick’s Day. This is the day each year we embrace the spirit of the Irish and find reasons to celebrate through food, music, dancing, and most importantly Guinness. So, cock that flatcap, throw on some wellies, or simply pull on a green t-shirt and head out to join the party. Atlanta’s most popular Irish pub offers an all-day celebration with the pub doors opening at 7 AM for a full Irish breakfast and a proper pint of Guinness. The party kicks into high gear at noon with Fado’s legendary street festival featuring beer tents, bagpipers, and Irish dancers. Live music will begin at 2 PM with a variety of bands featuring Into the Mystic, Desire, and DJ Counterstrike spinning into the wee hours. This is one of Atlanta’s largest celebrations, so get there early! Tickets for the festival are $10 in advance by ordering here or $15 at the door.

This St. Patrick’s Day event is for those who want to at least attempt to work a half-
day before getting plastered…er, celebrating. The party starts inside at 11:30 AM with the live music of Chris Ricker, Galen Crader, and Joey Earl starting at noon. Gates open at 5 PM for the block party behind the pub. This massive St. Patrick’s Day block party extravaganza is a Virginia Highland tradition and this year will feature the bands Main Street Exiles and Yacht Rock Revue starting at 6 PM. Cover charge will be $5 in the afternoon and $10 in the evening.

Those hip kids at the Marlay House are so considerate. For folks unable to
sneak away from their office on Thursday, the Marlay House is having a St. Patrick’s Eve dinner on Wednesday evening from 6-10 PM or until the special menu runs out. The menu will offer two courses and two beer pairings for $25 or less depending on the exact dishes and beers in the selected pairings. Make your reservation to ensure you aren’t disappointed and the pairing menu runs out.
Oh yes, they will also be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from 11:30 AM with music, dancing, and toasting going until midnight. No cover charge was noted on their website, so give them a call if you want to double-check that.

Stout is a self-described Irish sports bar and usually draws the yuppie, East Andrews crowd. While it feels for the most part like the typical Buckhead sports bar, they do have Irish décor, menu, and plenty of Guinness, Harp, and other Irish beers. They will kick off the party on St. Patrick’s with at 6 AM with a Bangers & Beer breakfast and continue until 3 AM on Friday. In addition, Stout will offer no cover charge and $1 green beer. On St. Patrick’s Day, Rí Rá will open at 6 AM and make a grand tribute to its homeland by
hosting a special Irish breakfast of eggs, Irish sausages, rashers, black and white
puddings, grilled tomato, and sautéed mushrooms all with the requisite pints available. Live traditional music starts at noon and is followed by Irish dancing, sessions, and more live music until early Friday morning.

Keegan’s will be starting the day with their Eggs & Kegs breakfast starting at 10 AM. The party will continue all day until 2 AM on Friday with music from the The Ballybeg Band from noon-2 PM and Irish bag pipes roaming the crowds throughout the day. There is very limited parking, so they suggest you get there early and car pool where possible.

For folks in the Alpharetta area, the Olde Blind Dog will be throwing the area’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party. The doors open at 11 AM and the party will go until midnight with both indoor and outdoor spaces taking part in the celebration. There will be drawings, plenty of parking, and a full Irish menu available as well as typical American fare.
